This coffee was grown in the Nyeri district of Kenya which is noted for its exceptional coffee. The farm is located on the southern slopes of Mt. Kenya (the second highest peak in Africa behind Kilimanjaro). A microlot is a designated area within a farm in which the coffee is saved for its special quality. It is not mixed with the rest of the coffee due to a quality that is best preserved and accentuated. The pleasant acidity and tea-like characteristic of this portion are the special characteristics that makes this cup special. The beans are washed with fresh river water from the Ragati river and then sun-dried on raised beds. This bean is usually roasted lighter to highlight the precious acidity of the bean.
